Making Money on VectorStock as a Freelance Graphic Designer

As a freelance graphic designer VectorStock is one of the stock graphic platforms you can consider when it comes to making money and passive income. Based on my experience it’s possible to earn from VectorStock, though like Adobe Stock it depends on the quality and quantity of the images you upload.

Steps to Making Money on VectorStock

Unlike some of the other platforms, VectorStock is dedicated to vector graphics and catered more towards graphic designers. In their own words, they employ features that are easy to use to help you manage and edit your assets. Since they are the largest royalty-free platform for vector images, your assets are likely to reach a wide audience, thereby increasing your chances of making a sale.

Before you can upload to VectorStock, you will need to sign up for an account, which involves submitting a preview of some of the vector images you have done for vetting by their inspectors. Once approved, uploading is quite straightforward where you first attach a JPG preview (at least 1000 pixels in width or height) and finally an EPS file as a zipped folder.

Some points to note include uploading only images that are in vector EPS format, you owning the full copyright to them, and conforming to VectorStock’s upload guidelines. You can read those guidelines on their website, which also outlines the steps you should take so anything you upload is approved with no issue.

Next, in order to improve the discoverability, make sure the name and description are accurate, and as many keywords as possible are added — though spamming is not encouraged.

In terms of payment, how much you stand to earn depends on how many sales you have as a contributor and whether the image is exclusive to VectorStock. For reference, the payout is 3.50 USD when purchased through a Standard License and 0.20 USD when downloaded as a subscriber.

Payments are made through Skrill, Payoneer, or even cryptocurrency (not really recommended) if you live in certain regions. You can request for a payout once earnings reach 100 USD, which is processed within 14 days. If you would like to learn more, please feel free to visit their website.

So far my experience with VectorStock has been quite positive, and I really love how easy it is to upload an image once I got the hang of it. Once the vector is created I usually take less than 5 minutes to prepare and upload the files — and all of my assets have been approved with no issue.

I actually started VectorStock a few years back, only getting back to the platform recently. Currently I have made 68.92 USD from 69 downloads, out of 166 vectors. Since I haven’t reached 100 USD yet I’m not sure how that will work out, but one issue is that I mainly rely on PayPal for payments, while VectorStock doesn’t support. And while I have a Payoneer account, from the reviews I have read online haven’t been very positive or encouraging.

VectorStock is a good choice when it comes to making money and passive income as a freelance graphic designer. Uploading is easy and straightforward, so you don’t have to worry about wasting time trying to get your files right. The verdict is still out on payments, and I’ll update again once I manage to get paid.
